The site visit will take participants to CEITEC Nano, the research infrastructure of the Central European Institute of Technology at Brno University of Technology — the hosting institution of NFO18.

CEITEC Nano provides advanced facilities for nanofabrication, nanocharacterization, structural analysis, and X-ray tomography.

The guided tour will include ISO 5 and ISO 7 cleanroom laboratories, where complete fabrication and sub-nanometre characterization of nanostructures and nanodevices are carried out in a fully controlled environment. The facility operates as an open-access platform supporting both academic and industrial research.

Discover Brno through a guided walking tour that introduces the city’s rich history and its role in the European context.

The tour offers a brief overview of Czechoslovak history and the development of the region in the 20th century, followed by key moments from Brno’s past — from the famous 1645 siege and its lasting impact, to the rise of textile manufacturing in the 19th century and the opening of the Vienna–Brno railway in 1839.

You will also learn about notable figures connected to Brno, including Johann Gregor Mendel and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and explore the city’s present-day innovation scene with companies such as Kiwi, AVAST, TESCAN, and Thermo Fisher Scientific.

This guided experience takes you beneath the historic center of Brno to explore the city’s lesser-known underground spaces.

The tour includes a visit to the Cellar under the New Town Hall, offering insight into Brno’s medieval past. The experience concludes with a relaxed gathering at the café Kafe v rozkladu, providing a unique opportunity to unwind and continue informal conversations in a distinctive local setting.

Brewery Starobrno

We want to show you how it works and where our golden miracle is made. We’ll take you through the brewhouse and the mouth of the cylindroconic tanks. Those are the huge silver-coloured vessels where the whole beer fermentation process takes place. We’ll take a look at the traditional brewing technology, and from the gallery we’ll see where the bottles are filled and packed with the 11th lager.

We can do all this and more in about an hour and a half. And we’ll finish the tour with a tasting of our lager in the brewery cellar.
